Assembled Encounters: A PopUp for Public Life

The PopUp pavilion embodies a design concept inspired by the fluidity and ephemerality of Barcelona's harbor. It represents a model of community engagement and enhancement, offering a platform for local artists and businesses to showcase their talents and wares. Constructed of lightweight aluminum frames and covered with perforated translucent fabric, the pavilion is elevated by a modular platform that accommodates various programmatic spaces and circulation. Engineered to minimize its impact on the site, the pavilion embodies a sustainable and efficient approach to temporary building design. Its multifunctional nature, serving as an art gallery, information center, café, farmer's market, and central courtyard, fosters social connections and celebrates the creative spirit of the local community. The pavilion's ability to be prefabricated, rapidly assembled, and conveniently disassembled, imbues it with a sense of nimbleness, echoing the fleeting yet enduring nature of the harbor it draws its inspiration from.
